Matariki Evening

On Tuesday we had a Matariki evening. We all had an amazing time! Check out these pictures and videos. 

Matariki Kites

Room 9 worked in small groups to create our very own Matariki Kites. 

We all did a great job of working together and discussing our ideas.

We have been learning about Matariki. Room 9 created google drawings to share their learning. 

Come and celebrate Matariki with us on Tuesday 27th June 5.30-7pm at Park Estate School.

We will be performing Kapa Haka, songs and sharing learning and food. 

Trying our first fresh coconut.....

 Talofa Lava! This week was Samoan Langauge week, we learned about Samoa, Tonga, and the Pacific Islands. We were extremely lucky to have Mark's family come in and talked to us about Tonga and explain how they drink, eat and use coconuts. We learned how coconuts play an important role in life in Tonga. Maile brought in a bowl and bag made out of coconuts.  We have been reading texts about the Pacific islands and learning traditional dances, creating pieces of art and writing our own myths!!
